2 months and counting

We're down to the last two months and it seems like it's just around the corner.   It feels like there is so much to do and not a lot of time left to do it.  This last week was busy because we went to another class on Tuesday and Thursday after work.  This time we learned about infant care and had a little more hands-on practice as compared to the other classes we've been to.  Each couple was given a baby in order to learn the best way to bathe the baby (easy when he's not moving!), change the diapers, and swaddle (wow did we fail swaddling, we'll have to practice on Brady).  It also covered topics like umbilical cord and circumcision care.  There was one couple who was constantly asking off-the-wall questions, like what is the percentage of baby boys that get circumcised at that hospital or what is the percentage of babies that get acid reflux.  At least we weren't "that" couple...

The weather finally cooperated enough this weekend so that we were able to pick up our crib and dresser from the store we ordered it from.  However, the furniture is still in boxes and currently living in our dining room and basement for the time being because we want to paint the nursery first, another task that still has yet to be completed due to the weather.

This was likely the most productive weekend that we have had in a long time because we were also able to steam-clean our carpets, set up the stroller and also put together our new patio furniture.  Whew!  Given that the clock is quickly ticking away, we anticipate needing to have many more very productive weekends and week nights in the future.  So much for stocking up on sleep and hanging-out before the baby comes...

T-town

Last weekend Shannon was in Tulsa for a baby shower.  She had a great time visiting with friends and family.  Thank you to Sara, Megan, Jennifer and Betsy for such a wonderful shower!

We enjoyed brunch, with a personal chef who made delicious omelets.  Yum!

Shannon's mom asked her friends and family to write helpful advice on a baby bib cut-out, which was then made into a book.   We have enjoyed reading everyone's tips.

Safety First

This weekend we went to our first of many baby classes. Shannon started off snowy Saturday morning with a breast-feeding class... pretty self-explanatory. Then David joined her that afternoon for a Baby Safe class. This class touched on many subjects including SIDS, first aid, baby proofing the house, preparing Brady for the little one, and infant CPR. Some friends of ours told us that an easy way to remember the rhythm of CPR is to think of the song Stayin' Alive or Another One Bites The Dust. However, if you are going to think of Queen's song, then it is probably not appropriate to sing it.
As soon as the weather warms up enough that we can leave the windows open , we're hoping to start painting the nursery. We should have done it in January when it was 60 degrees because now that it is April, we are getting snow every other day.
And with basketball season winding down (who pays attention to the NBA?) here's a good story I found interesting...
