Water weekend

Last week was one of the most stressful that I've had in a while due to work, school, and supervising the Health Fair at the hospital, so we were lucky to have some family and friends in the area for a few days. Shannon's parents arrived on Saturday and stayed with us until Wednesday. One of the things that they are great about when they visit is to let Shannon and I get out of the house for one evening. Coincidentally, some of my friends from high school were in town Saturday night so we went out to dinner with them while her parents watched Grant. In short, I haven't laughed that hard in a while, and just like that, the stress was gone. It was a perfect start to a nice couple of days.

Sunday was the big event... Grant's baptism. I was afraid that he might cry at some point but everything went well.

On Tuesday, Shannon and I both took the day off from work and we had a day of fish... We all went to eat sushi for lunch (all-you-can-eat, yum!) and then it was off to the Denver Aquarium. We had never been to the aquarium before because we had not heard stellar reviews however everyone really liked it and it ended up being a lot of fun.

It was a great couple of days that went by too fast, but we all had a wonderful time.

9 month check up

We've been very busy lately but it will not get any less hectic until I finish my masters program in a month. That being said, there is a lot to catch up on...

Yesterday, Grant had his 9 month check up. It was actually the best one yet because he didn't have to get any vaccines, so it was the first time that we left the doctor's office without any crying. Our pediatrician was very excited to see how well Grant is doing with his motor skills. He did a little showing off for her and demonstrated that he can pull himself up, stand and walk with assistance.

Now that he can move around a little bit, Grant's new favorite toy is his 'walk and ride'. It can be converted into a scooter that he sits on while I push him around. He laughs so much when we chase after Brady on it... I don't think Brady enjoys it as much as we do however.

The cool thing is that it can also be used as a walker. He has quickly learned how to pull himself up and start walking. Although he usually only takes a few steps, it is a lot of fun to watch his excitement.

Grant now is tipping the scales at 18 pounds 3 ounces, which puts him on the smaller side around the 15th percentile. He has no trouble eating though and has actually started to eat a little protein. Last weekend, Shannon cooked and pureed some chicken. Since then she has been mixing it with a veggie, like sweet potatoes or squash, for dinner and he has loved it. Come to think of it, the only thing that he likes more than eating and sleeping... is Brady.
