August is always a busy month for us because of our anniversary and Shannon's birthday. This year, of course, was no different. Unlike most years we decided to not go anywhere for our anniversary because we had just gone on a vacation at the end of July. However that didn't mean that we didn't have an excellent 8th anniversary. On the actual day, we had another ultrasound. Ultrasounds are always exciting, but this one was the best one we've had (this was our 6th one in 2 pregnancies). The baby was very cooperative and the ultrasound tech was fantastic. He even switched over to 3D for a little bit at the end!

A few weeks after our anniversary, Shannon and I celebrated by having a Culinary Date Night at
Cook Street School of Fine Cooking. Since then, we've made chicken saltimbocca at home and are looking forward to making the gnocchi and tiramisu that we also learned to make in class. Yum!

For Shannon's birthday weekend, we went up to Winter Park. It was a fairly short trip, but it was nice to get away and stay in the mountains. Our lodge was at the base of the mountain and we thought that we would go up but we quickly chickened out when we saw it was a chairlift and not a gondola. Shannon made some excuse about Grant's safety, but I think that she was just scared. We did take a short gondola ride though, which Grant loved. We otherwise just enjoyed walking around and seeing another mountain town that we've not visited before.

On Shannon's actual birthday, Grant and I celebrated by going to the zoo. We had a great time even though Shannon was at work. Our favorite stop this time around was the penguins where we got to see a feeding.
