Grant's new cousin

My sister, Beth, had her baby in January so the three of us made a quick trip back to Kansas over President's Day weekend to meet the new niece. Since we did not have very much time, we decided to fly instead of make the wonderful "scenic" drive. We got into KC late on Friday afternoon and made a quick stop at Melissa (Shannon's college roommate) and Toby's before driving to Winchester. Grant did surprisingly well on the plane after only a very short nap and had a blast climbing over everything at Melissa's. We wish we could have spent more time with them and also wish we could have seen more of our friends in the area, but we had to get to Grandma and Grandpa's before it got too late. By the time we got to Winchester, the long day had finally caught up with Grant and he pretty much went to sleep as soon as we got there.

Since several of my relatives planned to come over in the afternoon on Saturday, we decided to make a quick trip to Lawrence in the morning so that we could get to see Erin, Todd, and Alex. Alex was nice enough to teach Grant a few letters, while Grant taught Alex how to climb up on the couch and jump up and down (whoops). It was pretty great to see the boys together! As always, we really wished we could have spent more time with them, but we had a lot of fun for the short time that we were there.

Back in Winchester with my parents after Grant took an extremely short nap, my sisters, Grandma, some cousins, and aunts and uncles arrived a few at a time. It was fun catching up with family and getting to see the newest family member, Lauren. One of the funniest moments was when Grant first saw Lauren. While in her carseat she would open and close her mouth occasionally as she slept. For the next few hours whenever anyone would mention Lauren's name, Grant would make the same movement with his mouth. On Sunday we visited Matt, Beth and Lauren at their home in Topeka.

Back on the Grant front in Denver, he has been learning at an unbelievable rate. Our new favorite words that he says are "Silly" and "Happy". Have him say them for you the next time you see him... It seems that he learns at least one new word every day. Surprisingly his new favorite body parts to point out are his elbows and eyebrows. However since he has waved at airplanes for over a year, it comes as no surprise that his new favorite action to make is an airplane zooming by.
