The joys of a crawler

Now that Grant is a full time mover and shaker, he has to be under constant supervision. So far he has:
  • Had 2 incident reports at school from bumping his head (not really even a bruise)
  • Tried to crawl into the dishwasher
  • Chased Brady around the house
  • Found outlets and vent covers in a friend's house in a matter of minutes
  • Stuck his hand in Brady's water
  • Pulled everything off the coffee table
  • Found the wine rack
  • Tried to shake the TV off the stand
  • Crawled around his crib instead of sleeping
And yes I am bitter about the KU loss and am still not talking about it, but Grant has apparently already jumped on the Panther bandwagon. I knew something was up when he kept trying to take off his KU shoes when the Hawks got down by 12 in the second half.

Gee thanks Darren for recruiting our son...

The worm

For about the last three weeks, we have been thinking that Grant is on the verge of crawling. Going into every weekend, we tell the teachers at his school that by Monday he'll join a few of his friends as a 'mover'. But despite his hard work trying, he hasn't been able to figure it out. He has been able to get up on his hands and knees or toes and rock a little bit but has not really gone anywhere. Last weekend we were starting to think that he had decided to just skip crawling altogether because he seemed more concerned about pulling himself up and standing. But when we least expected it, he decided to make his move!

(Please forgive me for the story that I am about to tell...)
On Saturday I was playing with him on the floor while watching something on TV. Without me even noticing it, he made his way to the TV stand and began trying to open up the cabinet doors. Not even thinking about what just happened, I picked him up and brought him back to the toys set out on the floor and went back to watching TV. A minute or two later, he was back in front of the TV, opening the cabinet again. Mildly annoyed that he was fascinated with the cabinet and not the ten or so different toys I had laid out for him, I went and got him again. Then suddenly it hit me. Grant had just moved across our living room floor... TWICE! I don't know if I'd call his technique a 'crawl' quite yet, it seems more like he's doing the worm, but the point is... he's now moving.

So far, Grant will eat anything and seems to enjoy all his veggies. Lately we've been moving to some fruits. He's had pears and apricots, and recently we decided to try apples. Guess they're not his fav.
