Grant's trip to the hospital

As you probably know, Grant was supposed to get tubes put in his ears tomorrow, but last Wednesday Shannon got a call from the ENT department saying that our insurance required that the surgery be performed at the main Children's Hospital and not another Children's off site facility. We originally had the surgery scheduled for the Broomfield Children's campus only because that was the first available time with our ENT surgeon. The ENT scheduler attempted to get the surgery moved to the main campus on Tuesday but was ultimately unable to do so. On thursday morning, Shannon found out that they were able to put us on the schedule for Friday. So we scrambled to get time off for the next day because we did not want to wait a few more weeks for the next available spot.
Overall, it was a very quick procedure and it did not seem like we were there very long. We arrived to the hospital at 7am and spent the next 2 hours in a pre-op room with a flat screen tv and computer while various doctors and nurses checked on us. Around 9am, a nurse carried him back to the OR and Shannon and I were sent to the waiting room. Thankfully only 15 minutes later, the anesthesiologist found us and took us to the PACU. When we arrived, Grant was waking up and was pretty upset. Once he got some food in his belly however, he settled down and we were ready to go home a little after 10am.
All in all everything went very well and Grant recovered quickly. We hope that the future holds for us many fun memories, and not ones at the pediatrician's office because of another ear infection!
