18 months

January has been an enjoyable blur. We started out the year with a little bit of snow so we decided that we would all go out and have some fun. Grant had to get used to walking on the snow but soon he got the hang of it.

Snow angel? No, he just fell and was trying his best to get up

The middle of the month brought a visit by Grant's Gigi for a long weekend around MLK day. We packed a lot of activities into those 4 days. As soon as she got here we went out for sushi. Then she was kind enough to let Shannon and I go out for a date night, where we saw the latest Harry Potter movie. Sunday we made our first trip to the National Western Stock Show. Every January since we've lived in Colorado, everyone seems to get Stock Show fever (I have a co-worker who takes 2 weeks off just to volunteer), but we have never gone. Since Gigi was going to be here, we thought that it would be a perfect time to go. In addition to checking out all of the cool booths, we were able to get tickets to the Wild West Show. Even though it was almost two hours long, Grant was glued to it. Everyone's favorite part was the trick riders on horses.

We also had Grant's 18 month check-up in January. Here are his latest stats: Weight: 22 lbs (6%), Height: 32 in (39%) and Head Circumference: 49 cm (80%).

And of course the big event for us this month was Grant's first KU basketball game. It was exciting that we all got to go but also sad because it will be the last time KU will play CU. They are leaving the Big 12 for the Pac 12 starting next year. We always look forward to the game each year and it was something that we hoped that Grant would enjoy growing up with. I guess now we will have to just get our KU fix on trips back to Kansas where Grant can see his first game in the Phog (his first outside the womb at least), or maybe we can start a new tradition of traveling to visiting schools (possibly Stillwater or Norman?). Unfortunately in quite possibly the biggest day of Grant's life, we didn't take any pictures. We were too much in awe of the actual game. Even more reason to make sure to make it to a game next year.
