I've realized the last few years that kids can be a pretty good distraction. After a loss by my beloved Jayhawks in the Championship game in the past, I would have held on to it for quite a while. I'm still not sure that I'm over KU losing to Syracuse... in 2003! (I continue to have flashbacks of Hakim Warrick blocking Michael Lee's shot at the end of that game that may cause me to have therapy someday.) But following this year's loss, we had a couple exciting events with the boys that sped up my recovery.
The first big event was Reid trying cereal for the first time. He actually seemed to like it, but he couldn't quite figure it out. The rice cereal just kept sliding right back out after we put it in. I'm sure he'll figure it out soon. Here are a couple pictures from the first few attempts.

Another, much smaller milestone happened for Grant last week. We haven't really mentioned it in the past, but Grant was still taking baths in the baby bathtub that we put in the regular bathtub. (Yeah, we know...) His knees were pretty much touching his chest (may be a slight exaggeration). It's been a several month long struggle, but we finally got him to take a bath in the regular tub! He loved being able to move around a little bit and splash around with some Thomas & Friends bubbles.

And then the biggest event for the boys was Easter weekend. Grant had his first real Easter Egg hunt at school on Good Friday and also got a small stuffed rabbit that he promptly named 'Bunny Bunny'. Then on Saturday we went to another Easter Egg "Hunt" that was kind of chaotic. It was a lot of kids in a fairly small green space at a park. Fortunately for us, Grant didn't mind picking up half (opened) eggs that other kids were passing by. We also got to meet the Easter Bunny! Then on Easter Sunday Grant awoke to eggs filled with goodies leading down the stairs, through the living room on the couch, around the table in the dining room, and into the kitchen where the Easter Bunny left baskets for both boys. In Grant's basket he found some books, clothes, more goodies, and a stuffed frog that he decided to name 'Froggy Froggy' (super creative, we know). Reid's basket had similar items too.

So I think being distracted by the boys really helped me after the Championship loss. And it doesn't hurt that the further it gets from the actual game, the more you can appreciate the fantastic season that KU had and an incredibly fun run in the tournament.
