Evolving world 2.0

Summer is starting to gear up, which means that a lot has been going on.  Here is a quick update regarding the recent happenings in our world.

Grant has started swimming lessons again.  Only this year, he has decided that he doesn't want to actually get into the water.  He has begun to be afraid of a lot of things lately and swimming pools are apparently now on the list.  It started about a month or so ago when he seemed deathly afraid of the movie "MacGruber".  I had to stop watching it because of his incessant requests to turn the TV off and decided to just finish it later.  (I think he may have had a sixth sense about how horrible of a movie it is from only the first 3 minutes.  Now that's scary!).  Unfortunately the fear has now carried over to many different things, with the newest being swimming.

In early May we enjoyed celebrating with our friends, and soon to be new parents, Cathlin and Michal at their baby shower.  It was nice because it was pretty much a barbeque with several different families attending.  It's interesting to watch how our parties have evolved over the last 5+ years.  Now they start around 4:30/5pm and end around "bedtime".  I was excited to attend this particular shower because there were no silly baby shower games like 'guess what kind of candy bar is in the diaper'.  Seriously, who really thinks that is a good idea...

Also Grant got to attend the 2nd birthday party for his "Buddy Mason" as he refers to him.  Mason is probably his best friend at school (and has been since the infant room) and it is fun to watch them goof around.  The party was at Pump it Up, a cool place with multiple inflatable bouncy houses, obstacle courses, and slides.  Everyone had a good time.

Last but not least,  our latest news:

Yep that's right, Grant is going to be a big brother!  Shannon is due at the end of November and we are all very excited.  We won't find out if it's a boy or girl until July, but we hope baby will cooperate so that we can find out then.

Now that he's a big boy, Grant is doing his best to step up and help around the house.

  1. I love love love Grant's big brother pictures. Congratulations again, I can't wait to have a new nephew/niece!

And I guess it's a good thing you guys have that front loading washer and dryer combo, otherwise you would have to wait a while longer to start ignoring those child labor laws.. ;) jk that video is too cute!

    Congrats again.
    Love you all,
    Val
